The game explores the conflict between the Imperial throne and the last Shogun around the time of the Boshin War in 19th-century Japan, 300 years after the events of the original game in a clash of traditional Samurai culture with. i love the announcements and stuff but Id love one about the next patch lol. Total War: Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai is a stand-alone expansion to Total War: Shogun 2 released in March 2012. Sorry for the ranting reply, but there is still a substantial part of this player base who really enjoys the old school, historical TW, and want's to see it in playable 4K, with better campaign and UI. Theres a Total War: WARHAMMER tournament taking place between Reddit users. But if CA was to put their time, effort, and a small portion of the heaps of money they made from from WH2 and 3K and make even something low risk like Medieval 3, I think it would be a big critical and fan success, and hopefully make at least a small profit. I remember being disappointed during the release of the first Barbarian Invasion, dont get me wrong, it was incredibly fun but as a history geek, I kind of expected a more informative and correct depiction of the Huns, since the game itself was inspired by actual, and fairly well-recorded. The Fantasy/RPG hybrid titles sell very well, which is why that's all we've seen for 6 years but the game was around for 15 years before then, appealing to the history buffs, and kids who loved medieval and ancient battles, and that is where the game received it's reputation. For the love of Attila, historical accuracy this time. Troy and 3K are interesting, and have much needed improvements in campaign mechanics, (although the battles and AI for troy are awful), but I get taken out of a lot of the fun of the experience by the hard RPG and Fantasy elements. I like the Warhammers, I've got about 600 hours between the two of them, but as a History PHD holder, I just really like being immersed in a historical game. The technology and hardware has progressed so much that a lot of the OG TW fans, (I've been playing since 2005), want to see another purely historical, European/Middle Eastern/Central Asian game set between 1000BC and 1700AD, with no fantasy elements. The point is that we don't want to play Warhammer games again.
